This is a church on the Island receiving

Nearly
twenty years ago I, Rev. Charles R. Leslie Jr. heeded the call to go
on a summer short-term mission trip. This was an eight-week trip with
Pioneers to Kenya, Africa. We were working with the Pokot people. This
experience
transformed my life. It made me see that people need the Lord. I saw
the power of the gospel changing people’s lives. It compelled me
to tell others also. My eight week trip turned into six months of mission
work. That’s when I saw the need to be a full time missionary.
I saw that people are hungry for the word of God. There is a void in
mankind that only God can fill. Thus, “Man’s only hope is
John 3:16!” As I prayed to stay and work with the Pokot people,
God was leading me to mobilize the African American Church into missions.
I saw myself as one but God could see many more coming to the field.
He said, “the harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few” Matt.
9:37). God is awesome! Just consider how He is using you. In the ministry He entrusted to you. I play a part in the ministry also. I am a mission mobilizer. I’ve been called to challenge and remind the African American Church of her Great Commission Call (Matt. 28:18-20). The Church is to “Go ye therefore and make disciples of all nations”. The Church is to be doing mission work locally and globally, according to (Acts 1:8) |
